bare. cares: The Crown Drive

The holiday season has always been about kindness and giving back — and as we celebrate our very first holiday season here at bare. medical aesthetics, we knew we wanted to do something meaningful for the community that has supported us since we opened our doors.
This month, we’re reflecting on what matters most to us: community, connection, and taking care of one another. From the moment we opened, Flagstaff has shown us so much love and support. Now it’s our turn to give that love right back.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce something new and close to our hearts:

the bare. cares initiative.

bare. cares is our ongoing commitment to serving and uplifting the Flagstaff community through acts of kindness, donation drives, and community partnerships. With bare. cares, we strive to support meaningful initiatives that make a positive impact where it’s needed most.

This December, we’re excited to kick it off with our first-ever holiday giving project.

bare. cares: the crown drive

For our inaugural bare. cares initiative, we’re launching a Women & Household Essentials Drive to support local women and families who need extra care and comfort this season.

We’re proud to announce that this year, we’re partnering with The Crown Project, a program under Flagstaff Shelter Services that provides shelter, stability, and support for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

why we chose the crown project

The Crown Project is a 58-unit, non-congregate shelter located on Route 66. It opened in April 2022 as Flagstaff Shelter Services’ first hotel-to-housing model. The Crown is home to families, seniors, and medically vulnerable individuals who need a safe place to stay while they work toward long-term housing.

Residents receive:

  • Nutritious meals

  • Hygiene and personal care supplies

  • Clothing and shoes

  • Onsite physical & behavioral healthcare

  • Case management support

  • Resources that help move them toward stability and independence

It’s a program built on compassion — one that treats each guest with dignity and personalized care.

“The inspiration for The Crown came from our work during the early days of COVID, when we moved individuals and families into their own hotel rooms so they could better self-isolate. What we learned was that people simply do better in their own space. Having them in big congregate shelter, doesn’t work especially when it comes to women and children and vulnerable folks.”  - Ross Schaefer, Flagstaff Shelter Services

why women’s essentials matter

While The Crown provides foundational support, women’s necessities are always in high demand. Items like period products, body care, laundry essentials, and new bras might seem simple, but for women and families rebuilding their lives, they make a world of difference.

They restore confidence.
They bring comfort.
They create dignity during an incredibly vulnerable time.

“When you’re experiencing homelessness, the first things to disappear from your budget are hygiene items and access to clean, dry clothing. Having these donations come in from the community ensures that families receive the essentials they need — and it allows organizations like Flagstaff Shelter Services to avoid spending operating dollars on these items. Instead, we can put those resources toward finding permanent housing solutions for people.”  - Ross Schaefer

how you can be part of bare. cares this season

From December 1st through the 31st, we will be collecting essential items to directly support the women and families staying at The Crown. As a heartfelt thank-you, anyone who donates will receive 10% off their service at bare. medical aesthetics.

the heart behind bare. cares

When we dreamed up bare. cares, we imagined something that would grow with us. An initiative rooted in gratitude and community impact. Our first year open has been full of connection and support, and we want bare. cares to honor that.

What better time than now to launch it?

“Community support makes all the difference. Donations of essential items meet immediate needs with dignity, but they also allow us to focus our energy and funding on long-term stability for our guests. When the community steps in with generosity, it helps us meet people where they are today while working to move them toward safe, permanent housing.” - Ross Schaefer

Together with The Crown Project, we hope bare. cares reminds women and families in our city that they are seen, supported, and cared for, especially during a time of year that can be overwhelming or lonely.
